In charge of a team of expert Dermatology professionals, Dr. Jaén, in addition to assistential activity, undertakes renowned research work both at a national and international level.

Differentiating aspects

All our procedures have the highest quality, provided by both the experience of the professionals who make up our team, highly qualified specialists, and the best scientific knowledge, constantly updated, which is the starting point for all the services that we provide.

In addition to all of this is the most cutting-edge technology. We have the latest technological advances to treat different pathologies and offer innovative aesthetic treatments, always in order to satisfy the needs of our patients.

We are also characterised by the use of minimally invasive techniques.

What does it diagnose? What does it treat?

Clinical dermatology

The diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases is one of the bases of our Dermatology Institute. In this sense, we treat all kinds of skin related illnesses.

  1. Skin cancer

Skin cancer is very frequent, especially in basal cell carcinoma. Furthermore, the frequency of malignant melanoma, highly fatal, has increased in recent years, especially in young people. The need for an early diagnosis determines our rates of prevention. In this sense, we offer our patients the option of mapping their moles, called digital dermatoscopy, which allows the examination of the whole surface of the skin and highly detailed recording of the shape, location, size and colour of contusions.

We also have the option of diagnostic ultrasound for different skin tumours.

Additionally, we offer the necessary medical and/or surgical treatment in each case, including operation through Mohs surgery. This surgical technique is the best for skin cancer, having the lowest recurrence rate (reappearance of the tumour in the future). It allows the monitoring of all surgical margins at the time of surgery by a team of pathologists, so that it is only closed and completed when there is no tumour remaining. It is also the most skin-friendly technique, as only areas affected by the tumour are removed in each step, respecting the healthy areas as guided by the pathologist.

  1. Paediatric dermatology

Children may have acquired or congenital skin diseases which require special treatment. Our team has specific training for these cases.

The most common condition in infancy is atopic dermatitis, for which it is essential to provide parents with correct information and a series of advice and recommendations for understanding and learning to manage this illness. Viral skin diseases are also frequent, such as molluscum contagiousum and papilloma.

Skin ultrasound is also a very useful diagnostic test in infancy, as it helps diagnosis of potential tumours in a non-invasive and painless way.

  1. Skin and nails

We are specialists in the treatment of hair problems and offer specific treatments for masculine and feminine alopecia and for capillary problems.

Personalised diagnosis is essential in this field to provide the appropriate treatment. For this we have examinations during consultations, and also all necessary technology so that examination of the hair is exhaustive, and for proper and objective monitoring through imaging technology.

Likewise, we have the necessary technology and team to carry out hair transplants on patients who require it.

Nail diseases

The study of nails is important because apart from the condition itself, it may indicate other pathologies.

In our unit we treat all kinds of alterations through examination and the use of the digital dermatoscopy.

  1. General dermatology: guide to skin diseases

Usually related with adolescence, it may also affect adults, especially women, in which case being hormonal acne.

Although we do not know the reasons for it arising, there is a genetic predisposition, as well as a relationship with stress and certain medications, such as corticosteroids and hormonal treatments.

Early treatment is essential for preventing the appearance of scars, and it is therefore recommended to make an appointment as soon as possible. At the consultation we assess the individual in each case, being able to complement the treatment with laser therapies which act as an anti-inflammatory to help to control certain outbreaks.

Skin allergy

Skin allergies may be eczema or hives. They are an exaggerated response from our immune system against certain substances. For this, we offer personalised treatments for each case, as well as undertaking specific diagnostic tests (contact tests).

Reddening, flaking and itchiness are symptoms of dermatitis, an inflammation of the Surface layers of the skin.

In our Unit we analyse the type of dermatitis or eczema to offer our patients personalised solutions (seborrheic dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, frictional dermatitis, etc.).

Sexually transmitted infections

There are various sexually transmitted infections. The most frequent are condilomas or warts produced by the human papillomavirus. It is estimated that up to 70% of the sexually active population may suffer from them at some time, and it is important to treat them property in each case, as it will depend on the number of lesions, their development, etc. Other sexual infections are also treated with the corresponding diagnostic study at our centre.

Alterations in mouth and genital mucous:

There are different diseases which may develop both in the oral and genital mucosa, and it is important to determine their origin: inflammatory, allergic, infectious, etc., as well as their correct treatment.

This is an inflammatory skin disease which emerges in reddish and flaky lesions. It mostly affects elbows, knees and the scalp, and significantly affects the quality of life of patients.

It is a chronic illness; that is, there is not a definitive cure; but we provide suitable treatments for each case, taking into account the extent to which the patient is affected.

This is an inflammatory skin disease which mainly affects the face. It consists of the appearance of irritation, intolerance to cold, reddening with quick changes of temperature and even lesions which may look like acne.

We carry out a personalised treatment, where the masterful formulation of specific preparations for each patient may be of great help. Lasers with an anti-inflammatory effect are also used.

Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease of the skin characterised by the depigmentation of certain areas due to the disappearance of melanocytes.

The patient has well defined milky white marks without flaking. Analysis through imaging technology is essential, allowing us to undertake objective monitoring at all times.

We have the most advanced treatments for the repigmentation of lesions. For this, steroids or immunomodulators may be used, psolarens combined with sessions of UVA light or narrow band UVB radiation. Certain lasers are also used for vitiligo.

Our objective is to provide patients with the most up to date information on this pathology and undertake a personalised treatment.

Aesthetic dermatology

Differential value

Apart from habitual procedures, such as the use of the laser, botulinum toxin or hyaluronic acid, we have the innovative revitalisation technique with autologous plasma rich in platelet growth factors. This allows us to naturally use the growth factors present in the platelets of the patient to stimulate the regeneration of the structures of the skin.

It is a totally safe treatment for revitalising skin, as platelets are provided by the patients themselves, which ensures the success of its application in aesthetic dermatology.

In addition to the treatment of specific pathologies, we offer aesthetic treatments for improving the appearance of skin, so that it appears healthier and cared for. Our objective is to get the best from our patients’ skin with natural, imperceptible results.

What does it treat?

Skin rejuvenation

We carry out treatments for facial and hand rejuvenation. To do so, we have multiple techniques such as laser, filling, peeling, growth factors extracted from plasma rich in platelets, and botulinum toxin. It is important to make a correct analysis of individual needs to thereby select the best tool or combination of tools available to us.

With age, the appearance of marks is frequent. Some may be lentigo, consisting of marks in areas exposed to the sun, and others may be in covered areas, such as melisma, typical in women of childbearing age, where hormones play a significant role in their development, in addition to exposure to the sun.

The combination of the correct depigmentation formulae and the most suitable lasers with an affinity for the brown pigment of melanin, achieve the best results. Peeling is also suitable in this pathology.

Vascular lesions:

Vascular lesions may appear anywhere on the body, which usually appear on the face with a pointed shape (vascular spider) or elongated shape (telangiectasia), or on the lip (venous angioma), but which on the rest of the body may appear on the legs (variculas) or torso, for example, as red points.

Facial tightening

We use tightening threads to achieve a lifting effect without the need for surgery. With the fractional laser and platelet factors, we enhance this effect.

Stretch marks and scars

Treatment with fractional lasers and combination, if necessary, with hyaluronic acid or plasma, allows the improvement and treatment of the most unsightly stretch marks or scars.

Warts and benign tumours

For the elimination of prominent lesions such as warts, nevus, malanocytes, fibroids, keratosis, etc., we have an ablative laser that leaves a minimal residual scar.
