What is it?
The Women’s Unit of Vithas Internacional is specially designed to offer a global response to any of the needs of women throughout their lives in regards to their reproductive system and genitals.
Gynaecological needs change and evolve according to the different stages of development, from adolescence to maturity. To respond to this demand, our unit has an integrated approach based on a multidisciplinary vision. We work in close collaboration with different specialities, such as coloproctology, psychology, assisted reproduction and nutrition, among others.
Who is it for?
Our services are aimed at providing comprehensive care to women, both at a preventive level, and in relation to any gynaecological pathology or reproductive system, hormonal or sexual consultation.
We are also specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis and the different types of gynaecological cancer.
Dr Alicia Hernández, PhD in Medicine from the Autonomous University of Madrid and specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, leads our unit.
With an outstanding professional career, she is a reference in the field of endometriosis. Also noteworthy is her experience in the approach to gynaecological cancer.
Her excellent scientific work has been recognised with the annual prize of the Madrid Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2004, specifically for her work entitled “Factores de pronóstico evolutivo en la endometriosis” (Evolutive prognostic factors in endometriosis).
Our personalised service, a close follow-up of the patient and the extensive time spent in consultation allow our unit to offer a service tailored to each patient.
Also noteworthy is Dr Hernandez’s recognised experience in the treatment of endometriosis. Endometriosis is the presence of the endometrium (mucous membrane that lines the uterus) in an abnormal location, usually in the ovaries, behind the uterus, in the bowel, or in the bladder. Many patients have no symptoms, although the displaced tissue can cause pain, heavy menstruation and discomfort during intercourse. Sometimes, the first sign of endometriosis may be difficulty getting pregnant.
In an entirely customised way, we will establish the appropriate treatment for each case.
Dr Hernandez also specialises in the diagnosis and individualised treatment of gynaecological cancer, as well as the most advanced gynaecological surgical aspects:
- Cancer of the cervix
